In (E)motion
Moments and episodes in human existence induce transformations, launch steps towards major changes (in this constant movement) to bring us closer to the core of what constitutes the “self”. The passages between childhood and adolescence, between adolescence and adulthood are key elements in different “stages of life”. The coming of age has a constant and increasingly expressive presence, denoting (perhaps) a growing urge to understand the (determining) sorrows and joys of growing up. In the IN (E)MOTION program, we focus on that same urge, presenting a double bill of films that start from one of the factors that can drive this leap into adulthood: the notion of the ephemerality of life. This is the common starting point for the narratives presented here: in one case, the death of a grandfather; in another case, the death of a father. From this shared base, we follow different trajectories, which develop in their own way, in different individual and socio-political contexts.
